Now then, for an update on Bang for Your Buck: Jackson’s got a start on the model and those of you with a paid subscription should be able to view the early framework in the 23-24 Bang for Your Buck Google Sheet. It should be finished sometime this month once a couple things are hammered out and we get to play around with some dummy numbers to test the finished product.
The early model won’t have every single state legislative chamber that’s competitive this year - that’s because we need to know who will be running in chambers like Alaska, and forecast models, which BFYB uses, are only published after the candidacy filing deadline. Jackson’s made great improvements to it though and there will be an article by him in adjunct to the launch to explain how it works, so we can help our paid subscribers navigate this year’s state legislative elections.
Also, for those of you with a paid subscription to the Substack, I’m beginning to add new election data to the state legislative data sheet. Today I’ve added Wisconsin, as cinyc9 has calculated the numbers for how each district in the Assembly and Senate voted in the 2022 Assembly elections. To put these numbers in context I’ve added 2022 and 2020 election data from Dave’s Redistricting, which uses VEST data.
If you are a paid subscriber and don’t have access to the sheet for some reason please contact us via the “Contact Us” form on the website, or email me at charles@cnalysis.com
Thanks y’all, and have a good week!
P.S. - One ask, the redesign as well as our staff’s efforts over the last three months weren’t free, it cost us $4,200 for the total expenses of paying our staff’s work on building the state legislative forecasts, writing a lot of new articles, paying website fees and paying the redesign cost. If you could help keep us going by making a donation (or, if you’re a free subscriber, upgrading to a paid subscription), we’d appreciate it, especially since we still have a lot of work to do on building new state legislative forecasts.
